Yulee Railroad Days- June 4-5, 2005
In 2005, the GSOC will once again stage this cross-state ride. Dates for this year's event are Saturday, June 4, and Sunday, June 5.
The 2005 Yulee Railroad Days bicycle ride will begin in Cedar Key on Saturday morning, June 4th. We will travel approximately 60 miles and finish the day at the trailhead of the Gainesville/Hawthorne Trail near Boulware Springs. We are encouraging riders to spend the day Friday in Cedar Key. There are several places to visit and things to do before the ride. For example, the Cedar Key State Museum is minutes from the start of the ride. There is also the site of the original railroad trestle that has been transformed into a nature trail.
For riders continuing ride from Gainesville to Baldwin, Gainesville offers many suitable overnight accommodations. On Sunday we will leave Boulware Springs and traverse SR24, through Waldo, Starke, Lawtey and on to Baldwin where riders wishing to complete a century ride will continue on to Fernandina Beach. The first stage of the century ride is approximately 54 miles and the ride from Baldwin through Callahan and Yulee to Fernandina Beach, is approximately 48 miles.
We have added a bus option and a luggage option this year for riders who might need those services. So download and entry form and plan to ride the first weekend in June. Please check the Yulee Railroad Days website (http://www.yuleerailroaddays.org) in the near future for updates and more details on Yulee Railroad Days 2005. Go to the "ride" section of the site for event specific information.
