Florida Bicycle Association

The Florida Bicycle Association is a 501c3, membership-based organization that mobilizes volunteers and partners to make Florida better for people who want to bicycle and for people who need to bicycle.

They advocate for better policies and infrastructure, they provide training and education for cyclists, motorists and other roadway users, and they deliver direct assistance to communities. Their programs lead to changes that make bicycling safe, accessible, and accepted throughout the Sunshine State.

They do this work to improve public health, strengthen local economies, advance equity, and protect the environment.

Mission: To inspire the St. Pete community and its leaders through education, events, advocacy and planning to make thoughtful, equitable transportation choices to reduce the impact of driving alone and enable more fully car-free lifestyles resulting in better sense of place, healthier individuals, safer streets, a cleaner environment and a stronger economy.

Vision: Fewer car trips due to more viable alternative transportation options as well as improved streets and open spaces to enhance the experience of residents and visitors that choose to walk, bike, use transit, and safe forms of micro-mobility.

Sarasota Manatee Bicycle Club (SMBC) was founded in 1974 as the Sarasota Bicycle Club and merged with the Manatee Bicycle Club in 1989, becoming the Sarasota Manatee Bicycle Club, Inc. They are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to bicycling for recreation, fitness, exercise, sport, and transportation. The club takes an active role in the Sarasota-Manatee area to further the interests and safety of all bicyclists and to the improvement of bike infrastructure. Whether you’re new to the sport or a seasoned rider, they’ve got a group and a ride for you. Their rides are open to both members and non-members.

Peace River Riders Bicycle Club

Peace River Riders Bicycle Club

Peace River Riders Bicycle Club is a collective voice promoting and fostering a safe and active cycling culture in their community. They provide a central hub to unify the many diverse groups, teams, and organizations that are involved in our cycling community. ​Peace River Riders are working to incorporate essential elements for increased cycling across five categories known as the Five E’s: Engineering, Education, Encouragement, Enforcement, and Evaluation and Planning.

By encouraging a vibrant cycling community, they have the opportunity to build a bicycle infrastructure that will benefit bike tourism and encourage everyday cyclists to ride to work and run errands as an alternative to driving. To this end, they have a grant program that provides seed money for cycling projects in Charlotte County and is open to any organization that meets the club’s goals and ambitions.
