Columbia County, Florida

Columbia County is a county located in the north-central portion of the U.S. state of Florida. As of the 2010 census, the population was 67,531. Its county seat is Lake City. This county has soaked up an exciting mix of cultures over its colorful history. Visitors can take in the antebellum mansions and the civil war battlefields around Olustee. At the same time, music lovers can visit a museum dedicated to the legendary 19th Century songwriter Stephen Foster, composer of American standards like ‘Oh Susannah!’ and ‘Campton Races.’ Columbia County has more than just water sports to offer nature lovers. The county includes approximately one-half of Osceola National Forest, a sprawling 200,000-acre preserve of cypress swamp and pineland, along with nine different state parks of natural and historical significance.
