Escambia County is the westernmost and oldest county in the U.S. state of Florida, located in the northwestern corner of the state. At the 2010 census, the population is 297,619. Its county seat and largest city is Pensacola. Tristán de Luna of Spain led America’s first settlement attempt here in 1559. Tour the National Naval Aviation Museum, where you will find more than 150 restored aircraft representing U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard aviation. A motion-based flight simulator takes would-be pilots through an F/A-18 mission. Spend a day at Fort Pickens – one of the largest forts in Florida – and enjoy the nightlife at Seville Quarter, where you can find dueling pianos at Rosy O’Grady’s Good Times Emporium.
