Nestled between the south shores of Lake Okeechobee and the pristine wetlands of the northern Everglades and sitting right on the edge of the Caloosahatchee River, Hendry County is the perfect combination of untouched, natural beauty and cultural tourism. Visit the Seminole Tribe’s Big Cypress Indian Reservation, which hosts many culturally rich events that give visitors a poignant glimpse into the history and importance of the tribe’s presence in southern Florida. While the story of the Seminoles could fill hundreds of volumes, for now there’s no better place to get acquainted with the people, their land, and their culture than at the largest of six reservations owned by the Seminole Tribe.
