Hillsborough County is a county located in the west-central portion of the U.S. State of Florida. In the 2010 census, the population was 1,229,226, making it the fourth-most populous county in Florida. Its county seat is Tampa. In 1914, the St. Petersburg-Tampa Airboat Line initiated the first scheduled commercial airline service in the world, from St. Petersburg to Tampa on New Year’s Day.
