Okeechobee County, Florida

Okeechobee County is a county located in the state of Florida. As of the 2010 census, the population was 39,996. The county seat is Okeechobee. Hosting the second-highest number of alligators in Florida, Lake Okeechobee is named as a superior sport fishing, boating, and hiking paradise. While visiting, try an airboat ride or visit Arnold’s Wildlife Rehabilitation Center and Butterfly Haven or hike and bike the many trails around Lake Okeechobee. Museums include the Okeechobee Historical Society Museum and The Philippine American Cultural Foundation of Florida, with exhibits about the Philippine-American experience and a beautiful pavilion and gardens. The northern shore of Lake Okeechobee hosts many RV parks and fishing camps. Downtown Okeechobee sports a wide grassy boulevard with military monuments and artifacts. It has pleasant, walkable public spaces.  Downtown has many shops, restaurants, and historic buildings.
