National Bike Month

National Bike Month is a yearly event celebrated in May that encourages people to get out and ride their bikes. The month is sponsored by the League of American Bicyclists, a non-profit organization that advocates for the use of bicycles.

National Bike Month was first celebrated in 1956. The idea for the month came from the Bicycle Institute of America, a trade association for the bicycle industry. The Bicycle Institute of America wanted to promote the use of bicycles as a healthy and environmentally friendly form of transportation.

The first National Bike Month was a success, and it has been celebrated every year since then. Each year, the League of American Bicyclists organizes a number of events and activities to promote National Bike Month. These events include bike rides, bike tours, and bike safety workshops throughout the month.

This month is a great opportunity to get out and enjoy the outdoors. It is also a great way to learn about the benefits of bicycling and to get involved in the bicycle community. If you have never ridden a bike before, National Bike Month is a great time to start. There are many resources available to help you get started, and there are plenty of people who are willing to help you find a great place to ride (including us here at Bike Florida!).

If you are already a cyclist, this is a great time to explore new places and to meet new people. There are many bike trails and paths, and there are many bike clubs and organizations that welcome new members.

National Bike Month is a fun and healthy way to celebrate the bicycle.
