Summer Cycling

Whether you’re hitting a winding country trail or cruising through busy city streets, the sunshine of summer turns every ride into a happy (albeit sweaty) escape. Enjoy the freedom, feel the wind in your hair, and let summer biking take you to cool new places.

Our goal is to create safer roads (for bikers, pedestrians, and drivers) in Florida by putting stricter laws in place that will reduce distracted driving, save lives, and hold drivers more responsible for fatal crashes caused by distracted driving.

From The Director’s Desk

How did it get to be the middle of June already?
Summer is in full swing and so are we! While tours may be on pause until November, our summer schedule is pretty full. We set our agenda for all of the places we need to be in our community, helping with events and at times sponsoring them. Most of these are educational in nature, like our commitment to the Peace River Riders Bike Club, located in Charlotte County. We will be present at their Bicycle Safety Day, taking place on Saturday, August 16th. Check their website out for more info.
IMPORTANT:
If you haven’t already, please take the time to sign the petition for the Hands Free Initiative (seen above). Every year, more and more Florida cyclists are injured due to distracted driving. Signing the petition is letting your voice be heard, and the more voices heard, the closer we get to passing this initiative. Please help us keep our cycling (and pedestrian) communities safer!
FOR FUN:
Peruse our online shop and add to your collection of bicycle-themed clothing, hats, glassware, thermoses, and more!
As always, be safe out there and enjoy riding wherever you may spend the summer – and send photos (make sure to identify yourself and your location) to amy@bikeflorida.org, and we’ll feature you on Facebook and Instagram!
