SUMMER, IN ALL ITS INTENSE GLORY 🌞
I have a peculiar love | hate relationship with Florida Summers.
If I bike, I am out by 6:00 am in the morning, home by 8:30 am at the latest. The heat curtails my distances, and that disappoints. I also dislike being inside during the summer, moving from air-conditioned spot to air-conditioned spot. As a New Englander, this cramps my style. Give me a northern Atlantic beach with warm (not broiling!) days and cool nights and mountains to hike, please.
The flip side of that: Bike Florida’s schedule slows down. We are not on tour twice a month; I am not in continuous meetings; the pace of returning emails and phone calls is once again manageable. Which is to say: I have more time to bike and am less inclined to do so – oh, conundrums!
Bike Florida will spend the downtime fine-tuning all of our touring plans, adding a hub tour or two to our already fun-filled schedule (see above for links), and creating long-term strategic plans in our efforts to continue making cycling in Florida safer and more accessible to everyone.
